yea, 1.7 support is dropping across many plugins and such, it's not really a good choice to maintain it at this point if we want to keep running things smoothly.

Yeah, precisely. Most developers have abandoned 1.7, so the plugins we have are glitchy with 1.7. Things like randomly dropping connections. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do...
