A Large News Update!

It has been a while since we have made a news post. The reason for that is because we are currently not making large changes. Instead, we are working on minor changes, as well as some new gamemodes. (They take time and effort to make)

Today is the server 2 year anniversary! Yes, ShadowXCraft is 2 years old! Thank you all that have supported the server in its two (and counting) years in operation! We will open a backup of the server from two years ago. It really shows how far the server has come in the last 2 years!

The main gamemode we are working on at the moment is Prison version 2.0. The current prison was made in the summer of 2014. It has been a while since then, and because of that it is in great need of a redo. The 2.0 update will be a major update to the current prison. I'm not going to tell you much now, it isn't even close to done, but I can tell you one thing: It will be different than the average prison server. You may be wondering "why make it different?". Our reasoning is that if we made it like the current one, why would a player play on ShadowXCraft's prison, when they could go to a more popular prison server? We will spend a lot of time on this update to make sure it is a lot of fun!

Other things we are currently working on include a new HG-like gamemode. This will be a surprise so I am not telling more. We are also working on our plans for KitPVP 3.0. KitPVP 3.0 will be designed, not just with 1.9 in mind, but specifically for the 1.9 update. The main goal of this is to be a great way for ShadowXCraft’s KitPVP to be even more unique. If all goes to plan, we might make part of KitPvP custom coded.

For all of these gamemodes, after the staff are finished and test it, donors will get exclusive access for a little while, then it will get released to the public. We don't want to release a buggy gamemode! Do not ask for early access.

For those of you who don't know, minecraft 1.9 is in the final stages of development. The Mojang devs are now mostly working on optimizations and bug fixes. Expect it to be released in less than 2 months, maybe even less than a month if we are lucky. 1.9 is a gigantic update that is called "The Combat Update". It adds a lot of things to the game that are related to PVP (Player vs player) and PVE (Player vs entity). No longer is how good you are at PVP based on how fast you can click your mouse! It is now based on timing, like the bow update a while back. Lots loved it, some hated it. The same will apply to this update. If you are curious about 1.9, search for videos about it on Youtube.
Realistically speaking, 1.9 may be a pain for server owners and server-related software developers, because a lot of the things meant for 1.8 will break. The server software we use will take at least a month to update to 1.9. Due to that, it will be a while until we release 1.9 gamemodes (Like KitPVP 3.0). At first, we will use patches to allow 1.9 users to join the 1.8 servers we run on ShadowXCraft. The patches do not add 1.9 features to the 1.8 servers. Expect that about a week or two after 1.9's release.

Recently, we have promoted new staff.
QueenChesus (Previously ChelseySkylar) is no longer staff. She needs to focus on school work.

JennyBeary, Rougeshadowgod, Nikkisaurusxz, and MeromeTDM have all been promoted from Helper rank to Mod rank!
nickrules has been promoted to Helper rank.
ChristaLight, rJayT2, and RitxGamer are all Jr.Helper rank. This rank is a rank where they get only a prefix, and are added to the staff chat. This is to see how fit they are to be staff. They will likely get promoted to helper rank.

*sigh* I will give you all plenty of time to adjust to 1.9. Why does everyone think they are going to hate it.. All you need to do is re-learn PVP. That is why I will give you a lot of time to adjust.

 

you mean 5-6 years?

Some of us aren't going to be able to adapt due to how long they've been playing, or will have difficulty because other games usually play similarly to the current pvp system, and not like the 1.9 system.

Anyway, I might be going back to my fav legacy minecraft version 1.7.x when the server goes to 1.9

 

Worst case possibility, we have two KitPVP servers. A 1.7-1.8, and a 1.9.
And that is assuming I am able to get copies of bungeecord to work with ALL of those versions. Back in 1.7 times that was unheard of.

 

It is possible to have both 1.8 and 1.9 but it will create bugs and glitches. That's why we updated every server to 1.8, now it will be time to update 1.9 soon. We will give you time to adjust just like 321 but we will still update. I can see already that I don't like 1.9 as much but making kitpvp 3.0 will be fun to make.

 

Wait... If everyone has to re-learn pvp, I CAN BECOME THE BEST ^-^
